In early February we saw an eagle flying around the edge of our town. We soon learned that this is a yearly event when several eagles converge unto the Carson Valley as a part of their migratory path. The cattle at the ranches in the valley are birthing at this time of the season and the eagles feed on the placenta. If you look closely you can see that this poor calf did not survive. You can also see that some of the cows did not want the eagle feeding on this particular placenta and shoed it away several times.
